In addition to spectacular scenery, dramatic animals and an underrated wineregion, South Africa is arguably home to the weirdest and most beautiful succulents in the world. In the winter of 05-06 I was lucky enough to vacation in South Africa with my partner. Although it was not a botanizing trip, I did have the opportunity to see and photograph some plants in habitat. We hiked around and explored different areas on our own. Click here to start the plant safari. We also visited the Karoo Desert National Botanical garden, which has an amazing collection of Haworthia, mesembs and other South African succulents.
